The Chilko Experience Wilderness Resort was originally built as a summer getaway for the Huston Family. Now that their children are grown, they open their doors to guests from all over the world. Among sweeping lawns, lush woodlands and emerald green waters are nestled 6 unique, custom-built luxury log homes.
Each of the homes was individually designed and handcrafted by Huston family friends and world-class master craftsmen at Pioneer Log Homes. Expertly constructed from the finest character red cedar, and lovingly furnished by Anne Huston and her warehouse of antique treasures, the accommodations are unmatched anywhere in the world.
All homes offer stunning views and are situated for guest privacy. Appointed with central heating, cozy living areas, private bathrooms, private decks and authentic period antiques, you’ll feel right at home in the middle of nowhere.
This amazing location was chosen because of its geography. In a two mile radius, you'll find Chilko Lake, North America's largest alpine lake. At 50 miles long and 1,100 feet deep, ringed by mountains and glaciers, its snow and glacier produce water so pure you can drink directly from the lake.
The area is also home to the Chilko River, famous for its fly fishing and named by Outside Magazine as the top white water river in the world in 2014. This river hosts a million spawning sockeye salmon each September that draws in over 100 Grizzly bears for dinner - making Chilko one of the best bear viewing destinations in North America.
Lastly, this property is located in that golden crisp of land where mountains give up their reign and the Chilcotin plateau begins and runs for hundreds of miles to the north.
